Our Trip to Ireland

Hello friends,
From Friday, the 11th of September until Friday, the 18th of September 2015 my classmates, our two teachers Frau Prof. Haslinger and Frau Prof. Kopitschek and I took a trip to the «Green Island”. There we got to know something about the country and about the capital city Dublin. Everybody lived in a host family in Bray during our stay in Ireland. On the weekend and in the afternoons we took some very interesting trips to Dublin and to the surroundings of Bray. And during the week we had some English lessons with our teacher Derrick O’ Sullivan at PACE, a language school in Bray.
Friday, the 11th of September:
On Friday at 7:30 we took a bus from Waidhofen to Vienna to get to the airport, then we had a nice flight from Vienna to the capital city of Ireland. As we arrived in Dublin, we took a bus to Bray, a suburb of Dublin. There we had our first meeting with our host families and they took us to our houses, where we were going to stay during our trip.
I stayed at a family named McDonagh with my friend Lisa. Our host mother’s name was Debbie and after dinner we had a tour through Bray with her. She showed us the bus stop, where we had to get off and some other important places in Bray.
Saturday, the 12th of September:
Then on Saturday our class met at our meeting place and we took the bus to the small city Trim, where we had a guided tour through the Trim Castle. After that we had lunch in a pub in Trim and then we drove to Knowth, where we got to visit the Celtic tombs. There we also got to know the changeable weather of Ireland.
Sunday, the 13th of September:
As it was a very rainy day, we decided against the cliff walk, and took the train to Dublin. There we did some shopping and after that my friends Clarissa, Victoria and I visited the national gallery and we saw some pretty paintings.
In the evening we met our friends at McDonald’s in Bray.
Monday, the 14th of September:
Monday was the first day we had our English lessons at PACE, the language school in Bray. Our teacher’s name was Derrick O’ Sullivan and he taught us some useable phrases. Later that day we travelled to Dublin again where we did some sightseeing with our teacher. We saw things like the Molly Malone statue, the Trinity College and also the Christ Church.
In the evening I went to the beach with my friends to eat dinner at a nice restaurant.
Tuesday, the 15th of September:
Tuesday was a nice and sunny day, so we took a long cliff walk from Bray to Greystones after school. That was, in my opinion, definitely the most beautiful experience through our whole trip to Ireland. We walked near the sea and then we took the train back to Bray.
Wednesday, the 16th of September:
On Wednesday we took the bus to Dublin after school, where we got to see the Book of Kells and the Trinity College. We also did some shopping and we took a walk through the Temple Bar district. Back in Bray I went to the beach with my friends to take some pictures.
Thursday, the 17th of September:
Thursday was our last full day in Ireland, which made us all very sad. After our last English lesson we walked to the Killruddery House, a castle near Bray. There we had a short guided tour through the house and then we had some afternoon tea in the big and beautiful garden.
Later that day, some students, our teachers and I took the bus to Dublin again, because on that day, it was late night shopping in the city. After a long and tiring day we had to pack our bags and slowly say ‹goodbye’ to Ireland.
Friday, the 18th of September:
We had to get up very early in the morning and then we had to say goodbye to our host families. We took the bus to the airport and at 7:30 our flight started from Dublin to Vienna. Back in Austria we took the train to Waidhofen and that was the end of our trip.
In the end, it was a very pretty, interesting, well organized and eventful trip. We were all very sad that the trip was over. Everybody gained new experiences and some new impressions of Ireland.
I, personally, could definitely imagine living in Ireland, because I enjoyed it so much there. I am very grateful that I had the possibility to see a new country and make some great memories with my friends.
